Vote For 2012/2013 Bundesliga MVP | The 12th Player

The 2012/2013 season is almost over and the official voting to decide the Most Valuable Players for various leagues is almost over. Here at The 12th Player we're giving you the fans the opportunity to decide who you think deserves to be the MVP, after all this platform was created for the fans, by the fans so we want YOUR unanimous opinions. We've selected 5 players that have been outstanding all season and though it's hard to pick just five from a league with over 400 players we want to assure you that these are unbiased picks and as stated earlier, these players have been the most outstanding in their various clubs.

Stefan KiesslingThe Bayer Leverkussen forward has been brilliant this season. His goals has kept his side in contention not just for a Champions League spot next season but 2nd place as well. At the moment a decent case is being made as to whether he is the best striker Germany has to offer and a possible recall to Die Mannschaft for the WC Qualifiers. Such has been his progress this season or should I say rejuvenation.

Mario GotzeOne word: Wonderkid.  In my opinion he is the best young player in Europe today. He's stepped up in Kagawa's absence and has had a superb season after returning from a serious injury in the previous campaign. Even in the Champions League he has been nothing short of exceptional. Confidence, Superb technique, close-control, pace, passing and dribbling are some of his key attributes. He has added goal-scoring to his arsenal as well and is already in double digits in all competitions. Dortmund are not retaining their titles this season but that takes nothing away from his performances which has been sublime. He is not even 21 yet and you tend to wonder how much longer Borrussia Dortmund would be able to hold on to him

Philipp LahmAn experienced veteran, captain of Die Mannschaft & Bayern Munich, he has led by example so far this season with remarkable consistency. Arguably the best two-way full back in the game, he has been exceptional both in defense and attack. On the defensive side Bayern have conceded just 14 goals in 27 games and are on the threshold of a record breaking Bundesliga season. Attacking-wise he has also shone providing 9 assists in the League alone. This is made even remarkable by the fact that he has no set-piece responsibilities and all of his assists have come from open play.

Dante A shrewd buy from Monchengladbach for just over €3million, Ulli Hoeness should probably throw in a little extra just for good measure. Calm, assured and solid at the back he has brought some much needed stability to what used to be a very chaotic back-line. Bayern fans can recall all too well how shaky and inconsistent the heart of defense used to be with the likes of Boateng, Badstuber and Van Buyten last season and downright ugly back in the days of Lell, Breno, Demichelis, Ottl and Lucio. Bayern have conceded just 3 goals away from home all season and 14 overall and are in the running to break numerous defensive records and all this is largely due to Dante's contributions. Doesn't matter who he gets paired with, it's plug & play for the Big Brazilian whose performances have even earned him a call up to La Selecao.

Robert Lewandowski While he didn't score as many goals as his rival marksmen-Hunterlaar and Mario Gomez- last season, it could be argued that his goals where more decisive. However this season Robert Lewandowski stands head and shoulders above the rest of his contemporaries having notched 19 goals and 5 assists. Despite various transfer speculations linking him with Dortmund's fiercest rivals Bayern Munich and Premier League giants Man Utd-which perhaps contributed to his and Dortmund's sluggish start to the League season- the Ice cold Pole has conducted business on the pitch with utmost professionalism putting teams to the sword on a weekly basis. 5 assists also highlights the fact that he has added creativity to his weaponry. This was evidenced by his mazy run past four defenders to setup the 5th goal for Dortmund in their 5-1 rout of Freiburg in March.

So, there you have it. The five shortlisted players for the Bundesliga Most Valuable Player of the season award. Let the voting begin.
