Coaching carousel starts to spin in NBA

Doug Collins resigned as coach of the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, a move that was clearly expected after the posturing of the last few days. Collins got to choose his own path, while Byron Scott and Lawrence Frank didn't have that option.

Scott was fired after three seasons leading the Cleveland Cavaliers, while Frank is out after two years with the Detroit Pistons.

Scott and Frank were probably the two coaches most likely to face firings in this offseason, though others likely remain on the proverbial hot seat. Sacramento's ownership situation could affect Keith Smart's future, Dwane Casey in Toronto may be in trouble and some coaches of playoff teams might not be safe, either.
