Atlanta Hawks versus. Indianapolis Pacers: Game Analysis, Features and 2 Report

The Indiana Pacers were only an excessive amount of offensively for the Atlanta Hawks to hang with, taking Game 2, 113-98, Wednesday night in Indiana. Surprisingly enough, the Hawks couldn't stop an extremely pedestrian Pacers crime rating 23rd in the NBA with just 93.4 points per game. Early on in the first half, the Pacers were putting on a dunk show. First, when Roy Hibbert disciplined Ivan Johnson for thinking he could get a called on him. And 2nd, when Gerald Green reminded many of us, including Josh Smith, why he's among the most productive dunk artists in the overall game. Even after these enormous throwdowns, the Hawks, could actually keep carefully the sport competitive and close throughout the first half with a significant number of internal crime. At the end of the initial half, the Pacers, behind Paul George's 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, grabbed a lead and never looked straight back. The most alarming statistic of the night was the 48 points scored in the paint by Indiana, when compared with just 40 points in the paint for the Hawks. Even with Josh Smith and Al Horford, the Pacers were able to dominate the color, and which was an actual difference-maker. John George, revealed yet again that he is willing to just take his game to that elusive next stage, with 27 items, seven rebounds and three helps on 52.4 % shooting from the area. With four steals and a block, George's perimeter defense was successful in shutting down the Hawks' perimeter offense throughout the evening, and the newly crowned 2013 Most Improved Player played 39 minutes without doing a single turnover. That is the type of productive play that is planning to help him turn into a true celebrity in the NBA over the next couple of years. With seven minutes left in the next quarter, the Hawks slice the Pacers cause 10 points, but George Hill took over, scoring eight of their next 13 points and ending the night with 22 points on 7-of-12 firing. The Pacers never looked back after the press by the Hawks, smashing any comfort the Hawks had left by leading by 20-plus factors with only three minutes left in the overall game. The Hawks' increased focus on actual play didn't intimidate the Pacers. Rather, it generated the Pacers getting more free throwsa'29 efforts, compared to just 20 for the Hawks. That is an indicator of an intelligent and well-coached team. Up next is just a day at Atlanta for Game 3 since the Pacers check out all but lock up the collection Saturday evening.
