Hooters Ballgirl Unintentionally Areas Stay Ball at Phillies Spring Game

Need to get away? A Hooters ballgirl looked as though she couldave used a fast escape this Saturday after fielding a ball at a Phillies spring education sport in Clearwater, FL. A grounder was smacked by tampa Bay Rays designated hitter Shelley Duncan down the left field line that has been scooped up by Priscilla, a ballgirl, and threw to a new fan in the stands at the the top of the sixth. The young girl didnat may actually understand she'd just fielded a live ball until time for her chair, where the stage finally sunk in and she began covering her face and flashing an important adid I truly just hinder a Significant League Baseball game?a look. Duncan was given 2nd bottom because of the disturbance, giving Rays director Joe Maddon good reason to praise the ballgirl for her help. Via The Tampa Bay Times. Her feet were moved by ashe well,a Maddon said. aI thought she offered her fingers to the ball perfectly also. The overall package was very, um, efficient.a I see what you did there. Historic Michigan Golf Business Destroyed By Fire

A Michigan mill that has maufactured wood golf rakes and wood flag sticks since the 1870s was destroyed this past Thursday (March 28, 2013) by fire.

Cheesebrough has been shipping durable outdoor goods around the globe over the past three centuries, at one time by the boxcar and now in much smaller boxes of cardboard. Though a "thin reed" of our former selves, we enjoy using our artistic bent in our craft, in hope we can add beauty and satisfaction to our lives and yours.  Each of our small number of clients is important to us and the continued operation of this old American company.  If we, or anything we build, gives reason to disappoint you, please call and allow us to make it right.

Unlike the typical golf industry suppliers that compete in offering "price point" goods manufactured in far away lands, we are a relic of the days when American craftsmanship and quality was the envy of the nations.  We operate much the same now as when the mill started in the early 1860's, using simple machines to "rough in" the basic shapes of our products, and handwork for final shaping and finishing. It is a somewhat tedious system by modern standards, and fewer seem willing to live under its quality demands.  It does allow us to offer products that are easily recognized as crafted not manufactured, and that by American craftsmen.

I'm almost certain that I've seen their products at Treetops' Tradition in Gaylord. I was impressed with them at the time and you can see a couple of photos here.

Manhunter Liga: Celta Vigo 2-2 FC Barcelona: Match Evaluation - Barca Blaugranes (blog)

A repeat of Barcelona's 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo. Perhaps the FIFA Virus would catch around us at some stage... Hamilton Academical Barcelona were held to a surprise 2-2 bring at the Balaidos tonight, as a header from Borja OubiAa secured a place for Abel Resinoas Celta Vigo. The hosts had an objective banned before they sooner or later took the lead on 38 minutes through Natxo Insa. Barcelona struck straight back through Cristian Tello, and even took the lead themselves in the second-half courtesy of still another goal from Lionel Messi. Nevertheless, they'd performed defectively through the match and a spot was about as much as they deserved. Celta Barcelona Possession Thirty days 70% Overall Photographs 8 8 Images on Target 3 3 Move Accuracy 69% 85% Fouls 15 12 Offsides 6 5 Orange Cards 4 3 Red Cards 0 0 The Blaugrana fielded a "weakened" starting XI, as Marc Bartra, Martin Montoya, Alex Song, Thiago AlcAntara and Cristian Tello were all handed starts. But, they were joined by Alexis SAnchez, Cesc FAbregas, Dani Alves, Gerard PiquA; oh and an Argentine striker named Lionel Messi. Even after spinning the team, Barcelona should have been confident ahead of tonightas match against Celta Vigo; would they be able to secure the three items and temporarily increase their lead at the top of La Liga? Barcelona started slowly; without Sergio Busquets, Xavi HernAndez and AndrAs Iniesta, the Blaugrana were struggling to hold control, and even with the likes of Thiago and FAbregas in midfield, BarAa were also struggling to generate chances. Celta Vigo on the other hand were pushing smartly a' not losing their energy by needlessly pursuing the ball all around the field, but exerting pressure at the best time to get possession. If it wasnat for the linesmanas banner, Celta would have taken the lead too a Augusto Fernandez applied the final simply to see his energy correctly eliminated. Maybe that frighten might kick-start Barcelonaas match? Maybe not likely; the mistakes continued and Celta capitalised a first forcing a out of Jose Manuel Pinto and then (deservedly) taking the lead on 38 minutes through Natxo Insa. Atrocious defending from Gerard PiquA made space for Fabian Orellana; cutting inside from the right-hand side of the Barcelona fee area, the Chilean scuffed his chance and the ball fairly fortunately fell to Natxo Insa who concluded past Jose Pinto to place Celta 1-0 up. Sure, there was some chance active in the goal, but Celta earned that lucky break; Barcelona hadnat turned up. Fortunately, Celta were not ahead for long; Cristian Tello levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time with a superb finish after still another support from Lionel Messi. Not pleased with his record-breaking tally of goals, Messi has now presented 17 assists for his teammates a the second-highest total on the Barcelona roster a while Tello has now notched six goals in 2013, just one less than Pedro who has played an incredible 1724 minutes more than his compatriot... Jordi Roura resisted the urge to create a change at the period, even though temptation to present David Villa or AndrAs Iniesta should have been large. At the moment, Barcelona only werenat getting the job done. By their own high standards, Lionel Messi was having a game, as was Alexis SAnchez; while Cesc Fabreagas was entirely unknown a' occasionally resurfacing to disagree with the referee. Surely an alteration was forthcoming, or were BarAa content to seize an individual position against relegation-threatened opposition? He was quickly joined by David Villa who changed Alexis SAnchez and he could have had to attend until following the hour-mark, but AndrAs Iniesta did enter the field of play in the second-half, changing Thiago in the middle of midfield on 65 minutes. Celta answered with a change of these own a former Bayern Munich midfielder Danijel Pranjic was removed for Enrique delaware Lucas a' and the match appeared to heading for a sketch. Bartra couldnat capitalise on Cesc FAbregasa place and Barcelona had registered only two pictures on target in the entire match. Luckily for them, they still had Lionel Messi. The Argentine had obtained in his last eighteen Manhunter Liga appearances (some sort of record) and it'd complete the "cycle", if he can report tonight. Initially, it seemed as if he had set Cristian Tello up for a at goal with another outstanding through ball, but Tello knew the angle was too tight for a at goal, therefore he sent the ball into the area and Messi was available to tap the ball into the trunk of the net a' it could have taken 73 minutes, but BarAa were eventually forward. Messias streak could continue and the three things were protected a' werenat they? Celta werenat prepared to stop trying without a a unlike Barcelona, they need to fight tooth and claw from here on in only to secure their invest the section, and ultimately that was enough to gain a share of the spoils. Barcelona plainly had one eye on Paris Saint-Germain and as a result, the drive wasnat really there; yet another defensive mistake was made and this time it was Borja OubiAa who took advantage. With significantly less than 5 minutes left to play, Celta had clawed their way back into the tie and earned a very important point to themselves in the fight for survival. Next up, Barcelona travel to France to take on PSG, before hosting Real Mallorca at the Camp Nou. Until then, Visca el BarAa! Follow us on Twitter

The Telepathic Football challenge featuring Manchester United’s Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez

Earlier this month, Manchester United strikers Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez took part in bwin's 'Telepathic Football' challenge, going up against the 1999 Man Utd's strike pairing of Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole.

The concept is simple – do the current crop of United strikers have the near-telepathic understanding of Yorke and Cole? Let's find out:

I never thought Yorke and Cole had that great a partnership to be honest (1999 was the peak but then almost everything went according to plan for United that year), but I do have high hopes for Rooney and Welbeck for next season – although Welbeck needs to work more on his target practice – you should be able to hit Rooney from that distance mate.

For a chance to win one of two 1999 treble-winning shirts signed by Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole, and to see the outtakes from the above video, head over to bwin's Facebook page.

UFC 156 Results: The Real Winners and Losers from Aldo vs. Edgar

Coming into UFC 156, fans and pundits slavered over this densely packed card. The pay-per-view segment featured four current or former major league MMA champions and six guys who at some point fought for a UFC belt.

Overall, this was a very good card. The excitement extended well beyond that star-studded main card, too. The highlights extended all up and down the line, from Facebook to finale.

But do the results alone tell the whole story? If you just said yes, then I would like to correct you there and tell you that no, they do not. Outcomes are but the tip of the iceberg.

What are those outcomes not telling you? What lurks behind their curtain? Who were the real winners and losers here tonight at the casino? Read on, why don't you?

Francisco Rivera was off to a perfect start in his second stint with the UFC. But he had to go and flame down a bathroom and get himself a no-contest ruling and a nice, fat suspension.

This was his first fight back. They didn't exactly welcome him back with a Fudgie the Whale, either; he got Edwin Figueroa. But Rivera showed Figueroa and everyone else that he still hits harder than any other UFC bantamweight.

All throughout fight week, Volkmann told anyone who would listen that he already had his post-fight soliloquy all mapped out. All he had to do was handle Bobby Green, and then he could get in the cage with Joe Rogan and get down to the real business at hand.

Unfortunately, he didn't clear his speech plan with Green ahead of time. Volkmann was probably winning on the judges' scorecards when he gassed during the final round. Green pounced and scored the submission victory.

Volkmann was a two-time loser Saturday night. He lost a fight, then squandered his big chance to make himself more famous. It's a big, huge pity, is what it is.

"I'm declaring war on the welterweight division," Tyron Woodley told broadcaster Joe Rogan in the cage. Based on his performance Saturday night, it appears the shock-and-awe phase may have commenced.

In his UFC debut, Woodley blitzed his way to a win over veteran Jay Hieron, dropping Hieron with a massive punch and ending the fight with ground strikes just 36 seconds into the opening round.

Before Woodley put the welterweight division on notice, his fellow Strikeforce refugees were putting in their own work. Bobby Green pounded out Volkmann, and the hyper-aggressive Isaac Vallie-Flagg took a surprise split decision over Yves Edwards.

By the way, I'm not counting Strikeforce vets Edwards, Hieron, Antonio Silva or Alistair Overeem in this, since they all left for and debuted in the UFC well before Strikeforce folded.

You have to love the flyweights. Ian McCall and Joseph Benavidez battled all over the Octagon for 15 frenetic minutes. There were heavy strikes, especially from Benavidez in the beginning. There were sharp exchanges from the clinch.

And there were some masterful—and I don't use that term loosely—sequences on the ground from the two best wrestlers in the division. McCall, in particular, used those to score.

After the adrenaline drained out, McCall seemed to start getting the better of Benavidez. But Benavidez stayed on his horse down the stretch and rode it to the unanimous decision win over "Uncle Creepy."

Fitch lost to Demian Maia by unanimous decision. But the fight was more a testament to the greatness of the winner than some mistake or shortcoming by the loser.

So why is Fitch on this list? Let me express that same sentiment from another angle: Jon Fitch is Jon Fitch. Jon Fitch is a grinder who exerts his will by gaining and holding control and fending off submissions and whatever else.

If he can't do it, he won't win. It's either enough or it isn't. Fitch is still a very, very good fighter, but I think Maia may have exposed him more definitively than anyone has before.

How can you not be happy for Antonio Silva? Alistair Overeem had been scoffing in his face since the UFC announced the fight. And he was doing it during the fight, too. The Reem had quite the permasmirk going, holding his hands down and practically blowing kisses to "Bigfoot" in the center of the cage.

Then came those heavy blows in the third round, and finally the smirk was gone. Silva went crazy, shouting, it seemed, as much in catharsis as in triumph.

And to be honest, The Reem's got no one to blame but The Reem. He didn't seem to take Silva seriously until it was too late, at which point Silva appeared to Overeem as an angry Viking riding a unicorn, and Overeem was giving a speech alright, except he was in his underwear.

What a poor fight for Rashad Evans. Little action, little urgency, little damage done from either side. Lots of apathy, though. And even worse, Alistair Overeem, his teammate in the Blackzilians camp—the camp Rashad Evans helped create—had been knocked out cold 15 minutes earlier.

That's what Jacob Volkmann with his speeches, Alistair Overeem with his disrespect and Rashad Evans with his Anderson Silva/middleweight talk were doing. (Maybe Yves Edwards was doing it, too.)

I'll be honest: I had Frankie Edgar winning the fight. Aldo did more damage, especially with some of those patented banshee leg kicks during the first two rounds.

Edgar, as he always does, came on as the fight wore on. I believe he did enough to win the final three rounds and the fight.

Still, though, it was a very, very close fight. Edgar, as he always is when this happens to him (which is always), was gracious in defeat. And I think he summed it up succinctly in his comments to broadcaster Joe Rogan immediately after the fight: "Jose Aldo's the winner."

Arizona Running Back Ka’Deem Carey Kicked Out Of Arizona-UCLA Basketball Game For Telling Cop, “Get The F— Out Of My Face”

Officers of the law often respond well to the athlete "Do you know who I am?" shtick. Don't want to submarine The Hometown Team for The Big Game. But sometimes they're less than receptive. When Arizona All-American running back Ka'Deem Carey attended Thursday's Arizona-UCLA game with his cousin, Hakeem Adams-Johnson, and ran into a spot of trouble with event staff and police, he decided to give it a whirl. He did rush for 1,929 yards and score 23 touchdowns, after all.

Initially sitting "double seated and sitting on the backs of the chairs" an Arizona events staffer approach the pair and asked them to move four times. It wasn't until a University of Arizona police officer came over that Carey and Adams-Johnson moved. As for why they were sitting there, well they claimed it was all just a case of not being able to find their seats – the sections and rows and subsections with their letters and numbers and such, it's all very confusing. The officer then asked them produce their tickets – presumably suspecting that they were ticketless – and Carey whipped out the "Do you know who I am? I'm an All-American." Too bad he prefaced it with a pointed obscenity.

"When the officer asked both of them for their tickets, Carey responded, 'Get the fuck out of my face.' He then asked, 'Do you know who I am? I'm an All-American.'

The officer asked Carey and Adams-Johnson to accompany him outside. They agreed, but Carey approached the officer, asking what the problem was. He said that the pair did not actually have tickets, but were having problems getting them, according to the report."

"Carey then 'got close' to the officer, who told Carey to 'back off.' When Carey did not comply, the officer spoke in 'a louder voice' and Carey took several steps back, according to the report.

The two were eventually escorted out of the arena and Carey, as an Arizona student, was referred to the Dean of Students Office for a code of conduct violation.

You might remember that this isn't Carey's first brush with the law – he's already accused of pushing his pregnant girlfriend and slamming her fingers in a door, and he recently pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct. He'll be back in court on February 6th for a pre-trial hearing – though there's still the looming and more terrifying threat of a school-ordered 500-word apology essay for this latest incident.

Boise State Football: Former Bronco Assistant Coaches Making an Impact Elsewhere

Chris Petersen has done some remarkable things since taking over the head coaching job at Boise State in 2006. In his seven seasons in Boise he has led the Broncos to an 84-8 record, five conference championships and five bowl victories with two of those being Fiesta Bowls.

Add to all of that the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award once and the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award twice, and you have an incredible list of accomplishments and accolades.

However, one of the most impressive and sometimes overlooked achievements that Petersen has brought to the table is his ability not only to build up excellent football players, but to pick, plant and promote hand-selected assistant coaches who seem to excel under Petersen's leadership.

Many of those same assistants have moved on after some success in Boise, but they have proved that what they learned under Petersen has equipped them for much more.

Marcel Yates became an assistant coach before Petersen was promoted to head coach. However, it was under Petersen that Yates excelled.

Yates led the Boise secondary for six seasons and was promoted by Petersen to defensive pass game coordinator in 2011. Texas A&M took notice of the tremendous success that Coach Yates had as a Bronco, and in 2012 he was hired by the Aggies as the co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach.

Under Yates, the Aggies had a very good defense last season. Overall, they finished 26th in points against the defense. They allowed an average of just 21.8 points per contest and forced 12 interceptions on the year.

Texas A&M finished 11-2 overall and 6-2 in the SEC. That included the remarkable upset of Alabama. In that game, the Aggies defense held the Crimson Tide to 24 points and forced two interceptions.

Brent Pease is another coach who didn't start as a Bronco, but it is certainly where he raised himself to an elite level.

He was hired by Chris Petersen in 2006 as a wide receivers coach, but was quickly elevated to an assistant head coach in 2007. In 2011, Petersen promoted Pease to quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator.

Under Pease, the Broncos had a very potent and feared offense. If it wasn't for the single loss to TCU in 2011 the Broncos would have found themselves in another BCS contest.

Because of his success at Boise State, the University of Florida came calling in 2012. Pease was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Gators, and in his first year with Florida, he helped lead his new team to a Sugar Bowl appearance.

In a true show of support of the Broncos and Petersen, Pease made time to attend the Boise State vs. Nevada game in December. He was there wearing a Boise State hat and cheering on his former team.

Pease is an Idaho native having been born in Moscow. However, Broncos fans have never held that against him. It will be interesting to see how Pease does in 2013. He is another coach that is certainly in line for a head coaching job someday.

Justin Wilcox is a name Boise State fans know well. He got his start as a graduate assistant at Boise State in 2001. However, he was then hired by Cal as a linebackers coach where he spent a few seasons before Petersen hired him in 2006.

Chris Petersen took a chance hiring Wilcox as the defensive coordinator at the ripe old age of 30. The young coach commanded the Boise State defense for four seasons before being plucked away by Tennessee in 2010.

Wilcox was then hired by Washington in 2012 where he remains the defensive coordinator. Under Wilcox, the Huskies have a much improved defense and they gave the Broncos a very tough game in the Maaco Bowl Las Vegas.

Of course, all Boise State fans realize that the two teams are going to meet again in the 2013 season opener, and you know Wilcox will have his defense ready.

Wilcox is another coach that could be a head coach someday. However, defensive coordinators don't usually have as many opportunities as their offensive counterparts.

In his time at Boise State, Choate was the running backs coach for three seasons and the special teams linebackers coach. His special teams were indeed special, and Ian Johnson flourished at running back under Choate's leadership.

Choate was hired away by Washington State in 2012, and who could blame them? His energy and ability to coach several positions made him the type of coach every head coach loves to have. Which is why just recently the new head coach at UTEP, Sean Kugler, hired Choate to run his defense.

Jeff Choate is now the defensive coordinator for the Miners, and it will be intriguing to see what he does with his new role. Chances are he will be successful.

Oh, by the way, UTEP head coach Sean Kugler was the offensive line coach for Boise State in Chris Petersen's first season with the Broncos (2006).

Bryan Harsin was a graduate assistant for Boise State at just 24 years old in 2001. He was then promoted to tight ends coach the very next season. However, it was when coach Chris Petersen took over that Harsin got his big break.

In 2006, at the age of 29, Harsin became the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator for the Broncos. Of course, that is the same season Boise State upset Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl behind three trick plays on offense.

In 2011, Texas hired Harsin away, and he continued his successful run with the Longhorns. However, recently Harsin was hired away by Arkansas State to become the Red Wolves new head football coach.

Bronco fans certainly know the name Julius Brown. He was a three-year starter for the Broncos at defensive back and was also a graduate assistant under Petersen in 2007 and 2008. He is now the cornerbacks coach under Harsin at Arkansas State.

Lee Marks is another former Boise State player on the Red Wolves staff, as is Bush Hamdan. Hamdan is a former backup quarterback for the Broncos, and he is now the quarterbacks coach at Arkansas State.

Former Boise State and Detroit Lions defensive back Gerald Alexander is also joining Harsin as a graduate assistant.

The number of assistant coaches who have gotten their start or their big break under Coach Pete is impressive, and the number is growing every year. At this pace, it won't be long before Petersen has to face a former coach on every week of the season.

Boise State has become known for many things under the leadership of Chris Petersen. However, one of his greatest legacies Petersen might be creating is the solid chain of impressive assistant coaches now decorating the college football landscape.

Poyet wary of Wanderers threat

This weekend, Bolton Wanderers will have their first (of hopefully a few) promotion six-pointers. The Trotters sit five points and three places behind sixth-in-the-table Brighton and Hove Albion. The match has the potential to be a massive influence on any promotion hopes that the men in white may have as the season enters its final ten games.

Ahead of his team's first-ever trip to the Reebok Stadium (and Bolton's first time hosting the Seagulls in 20 years), Gus Poyet issued words of warning. On top of being aware of Bolton's current form, he has told the Albion side that they need to go for it at the weekend.

"Bolton have had a good run of games and I'm sure there will be a different atmosphere around their club now. They were in a worrying situation at one point and I'd imagine we'll be playing against a different team on Saturday. They have the players to be in the top six because the quality of their squad is unbelievable.

"They have experience, they are playing at home and they are winning so it will be one of the hardest games for us. Having said that, it's another great game for us to play."

Like Bolton, Brighton are very much in form right now, having also taken 14 points from their last six games. They played out a 0-0 draw with Bristol City midweek.

"We need to play better than Tuesday in terms of attacking but play the same in terms of defending. We were spot on defensively. They [Bristol] only had shots from distance and if we do that every game we will win. Having said that we did not have a shot on goal which is very poor.

"We need to take a few risks and that all depends on what happens on the day. I didn't think Tuesday was the night to take a massive gamble because there was nothing in the game. We need to do it on Saturday though and if we have to we will take risks."

"From our point of view we need to win one of the next two. Now we have the chance to win this one so let's go and really try to win it.

"From the last 11 games of last season we only made about 12 points, and we didn't lose many. We need to make more points this time and to do that we have got to win.

"Then of course we will try to win in Barnsley but whatever happens, we cannot afford to go three games without winning.

"There will be a big impact from Bolton because they are on a good run and to win we will have to be spot-on. We need fresh legs because it will be competitive but we always look forward to playing against the big teams, which Bolton are."

9 Unforgettable Minutes from the Blackhawks Record Placing Ability

The Chicago Blackhawks became the dominant story in sports in the first three months of the NHL season as they rolled through 24 games without suffering a regulation defeat.

Chicago's play was shocking, considering that Joel Quenneville's team had been beaten in the first round of the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. The Blackhawks looked like a playoff team at the start of the season, but there was no reason to believe they would become record setters.

Instead of feeling their way along, the Blackhawks began the season with something to prove. They proved it for 24 games before they finally tasted defeat for the first time when they dropped a 6-2 decision at Colorado March 8.

Here are nine of the more memorable moments from the first 24 games of the season, in which they did not suffer a regulation defeat.

They fell short of getting within hailing distance of the 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers' record of 35 straight games (25-0-10) without a regulation defeat, but the Blackhawks' run took attention away from the lockout and put it squarely back on the game in a stellar fashion.

The lockout-delayed season started Jan. 19 in Los Angeles when the Blackhawks took on the Stanley Cup banner-raising Kings.

Los Angeles finally had a chance to be recognized back in their home uniforms by their fans and it was a party. Until the game started.

The single-minded Blackhawks didn't care about the Kings' celebration. All they wanted to do was put the puck in the net.

Chicago opened the game with three first-period goals and dominated the Stanley Cup champions 5-2 in their home opener.

Dallas was getting outshot by the Blackhawks, but Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen was seemingly stopping everything thrown his way.

Instead of getting frustrated by the Stars' goalie, the Blackhawks turned it up a notch. Patrick Sharp scored in the second period and Jonathan Toews tied it in the third before Marian Hossa won it in overtime.

It was a scintillating performance because the Blackhawks refused to be stopped by a hot goalie and found a way to overcome and earn the victory.

When the Blackhawks flew into Calgary for their Feb. 2 game with the Flames, they were a tired crew. They had lost their previous two games in shootouts, including a decision to the hated Vancouver Canucks the night before.

The gas tank was empty as the Blackhawks took the ice against the Flames and they were outshot and outskated throughout the game. When Jay Bouwmeester scored for the Flames with 35 seconds remaining, it appeared the Blackhawks would suffer a 2-1 defeat.

However, on the ensuing faceoff, the Blackhawks gained possession of the puck and they would maintain it until two seconds remained when Marian Hossa jumped on a loose puck in the slot and popped it past Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff to tie the game.

Chicago goalie Ray Emery was spectacular for the Blackhawks. He had 45 saves in the game and added three more in the shootout. Patrick Kane scored the only shootout goal and the Blackhawks won again.

The Blackhawks were rolling with an 8-0-2 record when they traveled to Phoenix for the second meeting of the season between the two teams in the desert.

In this game, Phoenix goon Raffi Torres was making his return following his 21-game suspension after clocking Marian Hossa from behind in last year's playoff series.

Jamal Mayers took on Torres at the 2:35 mark and gave him a beating, but after that the Blackhawks were all business. They whipped the Coyotes 6-2 on their home ice and were not the least bit distracted at the sight of a player who had caused them so much pain.

While the Chicago Blackhawks got off to the best start of any NHL team, they were not the only team to get out of the gate impressively.

In the Eastern Conference, the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins have been special. However, there are no crossover regular-season games between Eastern and Western Conference foes this season.

The Anaheim Ducks have been special and would probably be the top story of the year if the Hawks had not been so dominant. The Ducks came to the United Center Feb. 12 and played with a physical edge and toughness against the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks took a 2-1 lead into the third period, but Andrew Cogliano tied it for the Ducks in the third period.

While the Ducks would win the game in the shootout, the Blackhawks showed they could hang in there with one of the most physical teams in the league.

The Blackhawks outskated and outplayed the Canucks for the majority of the game as they built a 3-1 lead after two periods on two goals by Marian Hossa and another by Patrick Sharp.

The Blackhawks' defense continued to frustrate the talented Canucks for the majority of the third period. However, Alexander Edler scored with less than three minutes to go and then Kevin Bieksa tied it up with 1:01 to go.

The Blackhawks appeared ready to collapse, but they held on in the final 61 seconds and overtime. Patrick Kane and Andrew Shaw beat Vancouver goalie Cory Schneider in the shootout and the Blackhawks had the 4-3 victory.

Many expected this was where the streak would end. The Blues had been one of the most improved teams in the league in 2011-12 and many expected them to challenge the Vancouver Canucks for the top spot in the Western Conference.

While they were not playing as well in 2013, it seemed that head coach Ken Hitchcock would get his team primed to play its best game at home against the streaking Blackhawks.

Jonathan Toews scored for Chicago 12 seconds into the game and the Blackhawks dominated for 60 minutes on the road in a 3-0 victory.

The streak had reached ridiculous proportions when they visited Detroit March 3 in front of a national television audience on NBC.

Detroit had the best of it through most of the game and had a 1-0 advantage in the late stages of the the third period. The lead would have been much bigger if Corey Crawford had not made several spectacular saves.

With the Wings about to wrap up a shutout win, the Blackhawks took advantage of a late power play when Patrick Kane whipped a shot by Detroit's Jimmy Howard with 2:02 remaining in regulation.

The streak advanced to 22 games at the end of regulation and then Kane won the game in the shootout with a spectacular double-leg kick move (see video above) to score the game winner.

While the Blackhawks were clearly the best team in the Western Conference, they could not shake the pesky Avs. Colorado had a 2-1 lead after two periods and there were whispers around the United Center that the streak might finally be coming to an end.

However, captain Jonathan Toews scored a short-handed goal early in the third period and the Blackhawks continued to press for the winner. They finally got it with 50 seconds to go when Daniel "Car Bomb" Carcillo scored his first goal of the season to give the Hawks the big win that stretched their record to 21-0-3.

The unbeaten streak would finally come to an end two nights later in Colorado, but the Blackhawks served notice during their 24-game stretch that they are the team to beat in the NHL playoffs this year.

Big East Tournament 2013 Schedule: Start Times, Live Streaming and TV Info

An overhaul in the Big East has resulted in a mass exodus from the conference, causing 2013 to be the last year fans will ever get to see the historic Big East Tournament the way it should always be remembered.

As great as this final tournament will be, the fact that UConn is not permitted to participate (h/t ESPN) because of academic issues has marred the hype around the event.

The Big East Tournament is one of the most exciting in all of college basketball, and the hope from every hoops fan is that the former conference superpower puts on one final show worthy of the grand stage it will be presented on.

While there are more impressive teams in the conference, the Villanova Wildcats could be one of the most dangerous lineups in this year's Big East Tournament.

On paper, the Wildcats have been less than impressive in 2013, averaging 68.2 points (154th in the nation), 36.2 rebounds (104th in the nation) and a field-goal percentage of just .416 (259th in the nation) per game this season.

As much as the Wildcats have struggled at times—especially against teams they should have no trouble beating—Villanova has stolen huge victories over college basketball powerhouses like Louisville, Syracuse and Georgetown.

Led by the stellar play of freshmen guard Ryan Arcidiacono (12.2 PPG and 3.5 APG), the Wildcats have blossomed into a dangerous team that could easily make a dent in the Big East Tournament.

Villanova plays St. John's in their first matchup of the event, and if the Wildcats can make it past the Red Storm on Wednesday, there is little doubt that the talented squad will have a chance to steal the show and win the final real Big East Tournament college hoops fans will ever witness.

CHELSEA FC – A South American Phenomenon | Chelsea ... - CFCnet

When you think of football in the continent of South America you think of Brazilian samba style, Argentinian non-human magicians and Uruguayan goal machines accompanied by their fanatic and passionate supporters. When I say fanatic supporters, I mean fanatic to the point that they have been known to throw various poultry on to the pitch in order to show their frustration or discontent toward their rivals. That is Crazy (or 'loco' as they'd say in South America) right?

It will come somewhat as a surprise to most of you when you read that Chelsea, a football club all the way from little England, are actually the main focus of many South American supporters passion and I have been lucky enough to witness this first hand.

Recently whilst travelling the countries of Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador, I have come in to contact with many fellow Chelsea supporters whether it was in a bar watching a match, in a Hostel talking with locals or just walking the streets and noticing the amount of Chelsea shirts proudly floating around. I found it incredible, intriguing and wanted to find out more.

Clearly the fact that we are the reigning European Champions makes a difference to the growing number of supporters we have gained worldwide, but the particular group of supporters I found based in Chile were more than that, they are true passionate Chelsea supporters and told me just as much about the club than any other supporter in the world could tell me.

This certain community is none other than The Official Chilean Chelsea Supporters Club all the way from Chile's capital City of Santiago. The Club gather for regular meetings after being founded in 2011 and recently this month, they have become affiliated with Chelsea FC and are now featured on the website as an Official Supporters Club. This is such a great and a proud achievement for those fans that live and breathe our beloved Club.

It came to my attention that there was a community of Chelsea supporters in this City when I was lucky enough to meet a member of the supporters club in a bar whilst watching a match, he then went on to enthusiastically tell me about the club and put me in touch with one of their admin members, 21-year-old Alan Flores, who helps run the club and deals with the social media side such as Facebook and Twitter.

Unfortunately my visit to Chile was drawing to an end and I did not have time to personally meet with Alan, I did however manage to exchange a number of emails with him and decided to ask him some questions regarding the Supporters Club, Chelsea and his own thoughts on current affairs.

Q: Alan, how long have you been into football?Alan: Since I was a little boy, in my family football was always present.

Q: Please can you describe Chilean people's passion for football?Alan: It is very extreme, for some people like me; our football team is our life and the most important in thing in the world.

Q: How long have you supported Chelsea?Alan: I first saw them play a match in 1997 when Gianfranco Zola especially impressed me and I became a fan in 2002.

Q: When was the club made officially part of Chelsea FC and how did this feel?Alan: It was confirmed as an Official Supporters Club in the second week of March 2013 and we are all very proud of this fact.

Q: What events does your Supporters Club hold?Alan: We go to a local bar in Santiago together as a Club to watch every Chelsea match. We also organise Football matches where we play against other rival Supporters Clubs such as The Official Chilean Manchester United Supporters Club.

Q: Ah yes I did see some pictures from this match, where you where proudly wearing the Chelsea kit and the game ended 5-5. This must be a fun to be involved in, is that a regular thing?Alan: Yes this is regular, and we play against other communities as well such as Arsenal, and Bayern Munich We like to win and show that in Chile, Chelsea is the best!

Q: How often do you buy Official Chelsea merchandise?Alan: Very often! I buy Official goods from The Adidas Store on a Monthly basis.

Q: How would you describe your Supporters Clubs relationship with Chelsea FC?Alan: We had communication when we were told that we were to be an Official Supporters Club but apart from that there is no communication really. We do have a friend who is lucky enough to get us photos and information from English journalists.

Q: Do you know much about Chelsea's Club history?Alan: Yes, I always read about the history of Chelsea and I often watch historical matches on TV or the Internet.

Q: Can you name some of your favourite Chelsea players/managers from whilst you've been a follower?Alan: My favourite past players are Gianfranco Zola, Roberto Di Matteo, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Gustavo Poyet, Claude Makelele, Joe Cole, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack, Tore Andre Flo, and John Terry. For me, these players are legends and idols and I admire them a lot. My favourite Coaches are Gianluca Vialli, Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Di Matteo. These Coaches have done many good things for the team.

Q: How do you think this season is going for Chelsea?Alan: This has been a bad season in more ways than one. But we have very good players and we must win the Europa League and FA Cup to recover a generally stuttering season.

Q: Are there any changes/new players you would like to see come in this summer?Alan: Yes, I would love to see Radamel Falcao and Mario Gotze come to Chelsea. Also I would like to see Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku return, I feel they both can be very important players for us. For me also, I think Marko Marin needs more appearances, he is a great talent.

Q: Who is your favourite ever manager of Chelsea?Alan: Jose Mourinho. His Chelsea team were enjoyable to watch and a real force.

Q: How would you describe your own support for Chelsea?Alan: Chelsea is my life, I'm forever talking and thinking about Chelsea, I am very proud to call myself a fan and proud of the team I support.

Q: How do you feel about the progression of the clubs current youth academy?Alan: I think we have very good young players. In particular I have been impressed with the likes of Islam Feruz, Patrick Bamford, Milan Lalkovic and Nathan Ake who all deserve some first team game time in my opinion.

Q: Have you ever watched a live Chelsea match? If not, do you have plans to?Alan: I have never been to England but my dream is to move to London and support Chelsea there. I have serious plans to travel there; I am currently saving the funds for it.

Q: Off subject a little but how do you feel about the Chilean National team's recent performances? They seem to be enduring a bit of a slump themselves?Alan: Yes we are very poor right now and we are at a bad time.

Q: What would be your own preferred Chelsea line-up if you were the manager?Alan: Cech, Cole, Terry, Cahill, Ivanovic, Lampard, Ramires, Hazard, Mata, Marin, Ba.

Q: I understand that Eden Hazard is also the name you have printed on the back of your Chelsea shirt?Alan: Yes, he is a great player and has improved so much during the season.

Q: What are the supporters club's long term plans and how fast is it growing?Alan: We aim to publicise the Supporters Club more, play more matches with Chelsea Chile, get even more of us watching the games together and eventually the Club's admin members aim to travel to London and watch a live match.

Q: How many official members does the club have?Alan: Currently we have 1,537 members. But it is growing by the week; on average we gain 7 new members a week.

Q: That is clearly a very strong and passionate Chelsea community and I think I speak on behalf of all Chelsea supporters when I say how proud we are to have you on board, supporting the cause and the very best of luck in your journey to make it to London.Alan: Thank you and thanks for the interview, it's amazing to get publicised.

It's not just in Chile where the Blue flag flies high; we met many Chelsea supporters in Brazil and Bolivia too. It is amazing that when you do not speak each other's language, football and most notably Chelsea, becomes a Universal language that we all understand and can converse about for hours.

If I ever struggled talking to somebody in Brazil, I would simply belt out the words David Luiz or Oscar Dos Santos and they would instantly become my best friend!

It baffles me that no matter where we were in South America, if you put on a television at any point in the day and you will find some football to watch.

Relationships are built through football, passion is shown, and people are given hope and enjoy glory. It is refreshing to see that even with all the money involved within the sport today, football still has so many die hard admirers and so does Chelsea, the proof is within this article.

USA Soccer, Mexico Tie, 0-0: U.S. Earns Point At Estadio Azteca In ...

MEXICO CITY -- The Americans were clinging to a scoreless tie, seconds away from earning a rare point in Mexico, when Angel Reyna's shot darted perilously close to the goal.

"It's always going to be a bit hectic and a bit crazy, especially late in the game," Guzan said. "You're never going to come to a place like Azteca and go out and have it nice and easy. So we knew at some point, it was going to come, the pressure was going to come, and we were able to deal with it."

Guzan swatted away shot after shot, young defenders Omar Gonzalez and Matt Besler showed the poise of veterans and the Americans hung on for a 0-0 draw Tuesday night, earning only their second point in a World Cup qualifier at Azteca Stadium.

The tie moved the U.S. (1-1-1) into third place in World Cup qualifying for the North and Central American and Caribbean region after three of 10 matches, one point behind Panama (1-0-2). The Americans and Costa Rica both have four points, but the Ticos are ahead on goal difference.

"We wanted to win, but we are pleased with the result," coach Jurgen Klinsmann said. "They gave us everything they have."

Klinsmann was criticized after the opening 1-0 loss at Honduras in February, with unidentified players and people close to the team questioning his tactics and leadership in a Sporting News report before last week's home win over Costa Rica.

Mexico coach Manuel De la Torre is sure to come under fire after a third straight draw, which dropped El Tri (0-0-3) to second-to-last place in the standings. The top three teams in the group, which also includes Honduras, advance to next year's World Cup in Brazil next year while the No. 4 nation meets New Zealand in a home-and-home playoff for another berth.

Mexico certainly had its chances with a whopping 17-1 advantage in shots and 15 corner kicks, three just in the last two minutes of stoppage time. But El Tri was plagued by poor finishing and dismal execution on set pieces.

"There are 21 points left. The leader has five; we have three. Its tight," De la Torre said. "Its close, and of course we are not where we wanted to be. Our obligation is to win at home, and we have left points behind."

Azteca is one of the world's most imposing venues and, like just about everybody else, the Americans have a miserable track record there. They are 0-13-2 in World Cup qualifiers in Mexico, with their only other point – also from a 0-0 draw – coming in 1997.

But Klinsmann has never lost to Mexico, either as a player or a coach with Germany and the U.S., and he has bolstered the Americans' confidence when it comes to their fierce rivals. The U.S. won at Azteca for the first time ever in an exhibition last summer, and the Americans talked repeatedly of making more history on this trip.

"Many people said it couldn't be done," said American forward Herculez Gomez, who plays professionally in Mexico. "We showed just a tremendous attitude, a tremendous willingness to sacrifice for one another."

Not even a patchwork – and inexperienced – lineup could shake them. Steve Cherundolo and Carlos Bocagnegra, mainstays of the U.S. defense for a decade, were absent, and Clarence Goodson, who started Friday's game at center back, was out with a strained hamstring. Klinsmann used his 25th lineup in 25 matches as U.S. coach and gambled by starting Matt Besler, who had played only one game for the Americans, a friendly.

But Besler and Omar Gonzalez – the last two Major League Soccer defenders of the year – looked like grizzled veterans as they repeatedly snuffed out shots by Javier Hernandez, Javier Aquino and Jesus Zavala.

"The guys were outstanding," Klinsmann said. "Our back line, you know, many said they were inexperienced. They deserve a huge compliment. ... If one guy is not here, that's a huge opportunity to the next one stepping in, and I think the guys that stepped in here, they took their chance."

Mexico dominated possession, and Aquino, Hernandez and Zavala repeatedly tested the inexperienced American defense, picking on left back DaMarcus Beasley in particular after he picked up a yellow card in the eighth minute. But Gonzalez came up with one big play after another, and Besler looked quite comfortable in the Azteca pressure-cooker.

But they got some help from El Tri, which blew numerous chances, including what should have been a couple of gimmes for Hernandez.

The Manchester United striker misplayed a bouncing corner kick in the 87th, getting only the back of his right foot on it. He pitched forward and into the net, but the ball popped skyward and over the goal. In the 28th minute, Jorge Torres Nilo sent a perfect cross in to Chicharito, who was right in front of the goal, just a few feet from Guzan. But Hernandez skied that one, too.

Guzan, who made his first start since 2010 in Friday night's qualifier, was superb. When Carlos Salcido lobbed a gorgeous chip shot to Zavala in the 43rd, Guzan ended the threat by coming out and slamming into Zavala. Not only did Guzan clear the ball, Zavala was called for a foul.

The Americans also got a bit lucky. Mexico could have been awarded a penalty kick for a two-handed push by Michael Bradley on Chicharito in the 12th minute. And El Tri probably should have been awarded one in the 76th when Maurice Edu took down Aquino from behind with a sliding tackle. The Mexican players were livid when no penalty was called, surrounding Guatemalan referee Walter Lopez. Lopez didn't back down, though replays showed Edu had clipped Aquino's foot.

The United States never really challenged Mexican goalkeeper Guilermo Ochoa. But their defense was offense enough, and the Americans were thrilled to leave Azteca with a rare point.

Note: Earlier Tuesday, FIFA rejected Costa Rica's appeal of the Americans' 1-0 victory Friday night, played in a snow storm at Commerce City, Colo.

Bayern hammers Hamburger SV 9-2 but no title as Borussia Dortmund wins 2-1 ... - Victoria Times Colonist

FRANKFURT - Bayern Munich's latest Bundesliga championship was delayed for another week but it did celebrate hammering Hamburger SV 9-2 on Saturday, with Claudio Pizarro scoring four goals.

Because Borussia Dortmund also won, 2-1 in Stuttgart, Bayern remained 20 points ahead with seven games to play and mathematically can still lose the title.

With a Champions League quarterfinal against Juventus looming on Tuesday, Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes rested several players. But his team quickly seized control against a hapless Hamburg on a damp and cool evening.

"Juventus is going to be a very different story, they are a different calibre," Bayern midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger said.

It was the biggest win in the Bundesliga in 13 years and Bayern's biggest since 8-1 against Schalke in the 1987-88 season. Hamburg had lost its last two games in Munich by 5-0 and 6-0, respectively, and the latest trip quickly turned into another nightmare.

Shaqiri provided the cross for Bastian Schweinsteiger's goal in the 19th, Pizarro pounced on a corner from Arjen Robben in the 30th and then set up Robben in the 33rd, before scoring again in the 45th.

In the 53rd, Robben set up Pizarro, who slotted home with his heel. One minute later, Pizarro returned the favour, robbing Jeffrey Bruma and setting up Robben for an easy goal.

Pizarro notched his fourth in the 68th. Normally Bayern's third-choice striker after Mario Mandzukic and Mario Gomez, Pizarro had not scored this season until Saturday.

Robert Lewandowski scored in his ninth consecutive game to seal Dortmund's victory after the home side lost Gregor Niedermeier to a red card in an ill-tempered match. Lewandowski's streak is third on the league's all-time list. Gerd Mueller scored in 16 straight games and Klaus Allofs in 10. Mueller also had a nine-game scoring streak.

Dortmund's victory strengthened its hold on second place. Bayer Leverkusen stayed third, four points behind, by beating Fortuna Duesseldorf 4-1 away.

Hannover won 2-0 in Augsburg, Schalke beat Hoffenheim 3-0, Freiburg defeated Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-0 and Werder Bremen drew 1-1 in Mainz after conceding the fastest goal of the season 12 seconds into the match.

In Stuttgart, the home side had the first chance but Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller stopped Ibrahima Traore's effort, while on the other side Marco Reus chipped over Sven Ulreich but narrowly missed the target.

Dortmund defender Marcel Schmelzer had to leave the game when he was kicked in the face accidentally by Martin Harnik in the 24th and was replaced by Lukasz Piszczek.

While Schmelzer was on the way to a hospital with a suspected broken nose, Piszczek scored five minutes after going on. He found the net with a glancing header off a free kick by Reus.

Stuttgart nearly equalized in the 59th. Christian Gentner hit the post, then Mario Goetze cleared on the line from Antonio Ruediger's follow-through.

The home team got its goal in the 63rd when Alexandru Maxim beat Goetze to a loose ball and slotted inside the far post.

Piszczek sent a perfectly timed pass behind Stuttgart's defence and Lewandowski tapped the ball in for his league-high 20th goal of the season.

"It was too hard, there was too much aggression. We got manhandled, at times I was worried about the health of my players," said Klopp, whose team travels to Malaga next week for the Champions League quarterfinal.

In Mainz, Bremen kicked off the match but Assani Lukimya immediately lost the ball to Andreas Ivanschitz, who sent the ball into the penalty area where Adam Szalai slid to prod it home after 12 seconds. It was the fourth-fastest goal in Bundesliga history, the other three coming after 11 seconds.

Breaking Down the Packers' Depth Chart After the Peak of Free Agency

Since free agency officially started on March 12 in the NFL, general manager Ted Thompson of the Green Bay Packers has acted like he normally does, which means he's been pretty quiet overall.

Since 2005, when Thompson first took over in the Green Bay front office, the team has rarely dabbled in free agency. Thompson prefers to build his team through the draft. He will also sign a number of "street" free agents, but rarely will he sign players such as Charles Woodson and Ryan Pickett like he did in 2006.

When it comes to free agency, Thompson's first preference is to take care of the players on his own roster. That is why the Packers offered a second-round tender to restricted free-agent cornerback Sam Shields, and a low tender to restricted free-agent center Evan Dietrich-Smith.

The Packers did not offer any tenders to the other restricted free agents...tight end Tom Crabtree, linebacker Robert Francois and linebacker Frank Zombo. Crabtree ended up signing with the Tampa Bay Bucs, while the Packers were able to re-sign Francois. The Packers don't seem to be interested in Zombo at this point, due to his injury history.

The Packers also had a number of unrestricted free agents as well. This group included running back Cedric Benson, wide receiver Greg Jennings, linebacker Erik Walden and linebacker Brad Jones.

Walden quickly signed with the Indianapolis Colts, while Jennings signed with the Minnesota Vikings, after it appeared he might re-sign with the Pack for awhile. Jones did re-sign with the Packers last week, while the Packers are still mulling their options with Benson.

The Packers are currently around $15 million under the salary cap according to the Green Bay Press Gazette, and much of that was done through the strategy the Packers used with their restricted and unrestricted free-agents.

Plus, the Packers were able to save cap space by restructuring linebacker A.J. Hawk's contract, which cut his pay $7.25 million over three years, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.

The Packers are being very cautious with their salary cap because the team realizes that a sizable amount will go to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, when he signs his new deal, which could happen soon, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

The Packers have not been completely mute in free agency, as the tender offers to Shields and Dietrich-Smith suggest, as well as the new deals with Jones and Francois.

They also brought in defensive end Chris Canty for a visit, before he signed with the Baltimore Ravens. The Packers also reportedly brought in running back Peyton Hillis, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, via Pro Football Talk.com.

The Packers also were one of the teams vying for running back Steven Jackson's services, before he signed with the Atlanta Falcons.

Reds up and running in Dallas - ManUtd.com

Manchester United's bid to win the prestigious Dallas Cup began in earnest on Sunday evening, Texas time, courtesy of a second-half brace from James Wilson.

The young striker netted in the 65th minute and again in injury time, by which time the Reds' opponents Club America had been harshly reduced to ten men. United were earlier grateful to goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini for preserving parity at 0-0 with a brilliant penalty save on the brink of half-time.

The venue for this victory was the vast Cotton Bowl Stadium, set against the set against against the imposing backdrop of the Dallas downtown skyline. And although the sparse crowd of no more than 5,000 was scattered around the 92,100-capacity arena, United fans from the local 'Dallas Reds' group were vociferous throughout as their team turned in an impressive and spirited performance.

Warren Joyce's side dominated the game from the opening minutes and posed problems to Club America with some slick interplay, crisp passing and good movement off the ball.  With Charni Ekangamene, James Weir, Mats Daehli,  and Ben Pearson bossing the midfield, their link-up play with forwards Adnan Januzaj and Jack Barmby was a joy to watch. The Reds carved open the Mexican defence several times in the first half and but for some profligate finishing would have gone into the interval with a good lead.

Pearson broke down the right hand side and after taking the ball close to the by-line, cut back a perfect centre which Januzaj headed wide of the goal. Terrific work down United's left wing between Luke Hendrie, Pearson and Daehli later put Barmby in behind the Mexican defence, only for the striker to shoot tamely at the goalkeeper.

The Reds were quick into the tackle, but sometimes too quick for the referee's liking with Ekangamene receiving a yellow card for what looked

Everton draw at QPR despite Steven Pienaars dismissal | Football ...

London:  Everton held on for a 1-1 draw at QPR despite Steven Pienaar's second half dismissal at Loftus Road on Sunday.

South African midfielder Pienaar was sent off for a second booking in the 61st minute, but struggling QPR were unable to take advantage as Everton cemented their position in the Premier League's top four.

David Moyes' side had earlier recovered from Junior Hoilett's early strike to equalise when a Sylvain Distin header deflected in off QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar's back for an own goal.

Everton are now one point clear of fifth placed Tottenham after their fifth league game without defeat, while QPR, still without a league win this season, remain bottom of the table.

"The referee must have known he was on a yellow card. It ruined our opportunity to go and win three points but the players did well to hang on to get something out of the game."

QPR boss Mark Hughes added: "The little details are hampering us at the moment, but overall our performances have been good.

"I thought some of our play was excellent. It's a good point that gives us confidence to go on and build from here."

The build-up to the match was dominated with speculation as to which players would boycott wearing t-shirts in the warm-up supporting the anti-racism 'Kick it Out' campaign.

Anton Ferdinand and QPR team-mates Shaun Wright-Phillips and Hoilett opted not to wear the shirt, following the stance taken by Ferdinand's brother Rio prior to Manchester United's game against Stoke on Saturday.

Everton captain Phil Neville lost possession to Hoilett and the former Blackburn winger fired in a powerful shot that beat Tim Howard after taking a deflection off Leighton Baines.

Pienaar whipped in a deep free-kick that Distin headed onto a post and, with Cesar prone on the turf after attempting a save, the ball rebounded, hit the Brazilian on the back and cannoned into the net.

Referee Jonathan Moss waved away Everton striker Nikica Jelavic's appeals for a penalty after he went down following a Stephane Mbia challenge late in the first half, while Toffees defender Phil Jagielka struck the crossbar from a corner before the break.

Pienaar had already been booked for one wild lunge, but his second yellow card was slightly harsh as he made minimal contact on Jose Bosingwa.

It took a fine save from Cesar to keep out a Jagielka header soon after, but QPR finished the stronger and Howard had to be alert to push away a Hoillet strike.

QPR appealed in vain for a penalty when Seamus Coleman appeared to trip Hoilett, who then a goalbound effort saved by Howard in a frantic finale.

West Brom U-21s v Spurs U-21s, 25.03.13 - Spurs Oddysey

This match was due to be played at the training ground but was moved due to the bad weather yesterday. The Hawthorns pitch was cleared of snow but, because the surrounding areas were still covered in snow, no spectators were allowed to watch. I joined the scouts in Executive boxes in the East stand which gave a good view but it was hard to identfy the home players in their striped shirts. I apologise for any mistakes in the home side as my eyes are not as sharp as they used to be.

Spurs lined up with Hall and Fryers at the back with Fredericks at right back and Byrne on the left. Huddlestone anchored the midfield with Bentaleb and Luongo while Parrett again led the line with McEvoy on his right and Ceballos on his left.

Spurs kicked off attacking the south end and their quick passing game soon had them on top of the home side. Ceballos cut in from the left and fired over. with Parrett sent through just after to drive over as well. Switching wings, Ceballos cut inside and drew a save from Daniels before he sent Fredericks away down the right to cross for Parrett to head over.

Ceballos was the player being found by Spurs most often and he forced another save from Daniels. Against the run of play Albion almost scored when Roofe crossed from the right and Nabi drove his effort from the edge of the area forcing Miles into a reflex save that rebounded into the path of Sawyers. Miles was up quickly to push the second effort away for a corner.

A minute later, Spurs were in front when Parrett sent Ceballos away down the right and his cross was headed home by Bentaleb. It did not take the visitors long to increase their lead when Ceballos robbed Jones to play in Parrett who scored past the unprotected keeper.

Another break ended when Hall blocked Sawyer's effort before McEvoy found himself running onto a loose ball with only the keeper to beat. Unfortunately Daniels got a hand to his low effort to concede a corner. Ceballos dribbled into the area before being tripped by Atkinson. The referee allowed the advantage at first but when Daniels blocked Parrett's effort he awarded the penalty. Ceballos stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way to increase the visitors' lead. The young Spaniard almost got another goal when his low drive from the edge of the area hit the left goalpost.

There were no changes for the second half which saw Spurs continue to dominate the game. Daniels saved a free kick from Ceballos before conceding another goal. Ceballos got down the right and crossed to the far post where Bentaleb directed his header over the keeper for his second and Spurs' fourth.

With the game won Spurs made three substitutions with Dombaxe replacing Luongo in midfield, Gallifuoco replaced Byrne at the back with Fryers moving to left back, and Parrett was replaced by Michael-Percil who went to the right side with McEvoy moving into the middle.

Ceballos cut in from the left only to be foiled by Daniels diving at his feet. Nabi got his head to a cross but saw it fly wide of the far post. Fryers got down the left and played in Bentaleb for a chance that was saved. Another cross looped up from Ceballos onto the roof of the net. With Spurs looking to see out the game O'Neil saw his long range effort saved by Miles who also saved a header by centre back Daniels from a free kick.

This was a very one-sided match with Spurs so much on top that if they had reached double figures it would not have been a surprise. They repeated their 4-0 scoreline from the home game as they stretched their lead at the top of the group to seven points from second placed Manchester United and eight points from Liverpool who they play next Monday at Anfield.

Should Tottenham Hotspur look at signing Scott Sinclair come july 1st? - Here Is The Town

The out of favour winger could well leave Manchester City at the conclusion of the summer season, and Sinclair could provide Tottenham Hotspur with the cover on their flanks they've lacked at times. For an ever-increasing quantity of young players in the Premier League, it is perhaps not the big move to a high team that eventually ends up defining the achievement of their job, but the move they make after failing woefully to break right into the very first group at that area. Having seldom included at the very top level for a couple of months, whether a new player could still replicate their best form when they move ahead to a different side is obviously an interesting question. Scott Sinclair is going to be the next man to leave Manchester City in an make an effort to perform normal football again, and so far Aston Villa, Everton and Southampton have already been linked with a transfer for the 23 year old. But there's another side in and round the top four of the group who could very well use a player like Sinclair, as Tottenham Hotspur have viewed short of alternatives on the wings in recent months. 5 people Chelsea must get this summera|Chelsea Hamilton Academical 360

The Champions of Europe Home a Analysis a 5 players Chelsea should get thisAsummera By analyzechelsea a 26, 2013 The roles of left back, midfield and striker have been our weakest areas in 2010 and Iave decided to look at our options that we may have to purchase : Yohan Cabaye a' CabayeAis what you'd contact a midfielder in modern baseball, with the ability to throw, go, protect and includes a great set piece on him, is he what Chelsea have been missing in the pivot this year? After suffering an accident at the start of the season, Cabaye has been significant to the revival of Newcastleas season but will Champions League football if Chelsea manage to secure a high 4 finish and being offered a spot in the Starting XL be sufficient to attract the quality of Cabaye to Chelsea? Newcastleas failure to live as much as the same requirements as last period has been a terrible thing in terms of participants after already losing their star player, Demba Ba, to Chelsea but will Cabaye have a different attitude towards the transfer then Demba Ba did? Cabaye is perhaps, exactly what Chelsea have now been lacking in the pivot, a new player who can attack, defend and has wonderful perspective to find a move everywhere on the field, the only thing is, will Chelsea manage to place this deal? Luis Suarez a Luis Suarez has been one of the stars of the season and important to Liverpool having at least a decent season but the problem is, he is creating a big name for herself and attracting several different clubs, one of these being Chelsea. Luis Suarez is the Premier Leagueas top scorer with 22 goals overpassing Van Persie a few games after the Manchester United hit male is having a spell scoring 0 goals within the last 9 games. Luis Suarez could accommodate Chelseaas type of play, because, not merely does he have the ability to get on the end of a pass, but he can cause their own goals along with set them up too as this is being found by the stats, he has served 4 goals and scored 22 goals in 29 games, but the issue is, the price tag is a large A40 million and we all understand what happened last time we bought a from Liverpool around the same price taga Luis Suarez hasnat hidden the proven fact that he wants to play in the Champions League, but may the Liverpool owners let him go really easy after proving how important he's to the success of Liverpool? Henry Shaw a Luke Shaw has been one of the stars of the time creating a big name for his self at the tender age of 17. Henry Shaw has been seen as a ahugea expertise and is a typical beginning for Southampton, but even though he represents for Southampton, he hasnat concealed the fact that he desires to perform for Chelsea after answering a on Twitter by saying the ground he was most excited to see was Stamford Bridge, he also said himself that he was a huge Chelsea fan and this can be a big plus for Chelsea as there are many different abiga clubs chasing the small stars signature. Chelsea previously have Ashley Cole but at the age of 32, he is just starting to lose speed and that's anything that defenders have exploited all year, but with Luke Shawas ability to protect, attack and the physical ability to obtain back in safety rapidly whilst the other side is counter-attacking, is he the great left-back? Luke Shaw has been set a price tag of A10 million, many people think that's a steal, others think it's way too much for a year old, but is it truly too much for a person who has another 9-10 years to attain his maximum potential? Chelsea have already been connected with Luke Shaw many times throughout the season but will Southampton be prepared to quit this young star? Angelo Ogbonna a Ogbonna is probably one of the most complete defenders with great defensive ability, great aerial ability, is as strong as a rock and a plus is the fact he's quickly for an opponent. Ogbonnaas low attacking work rate, speed, defensive capacity would give security and solidity in Chelseaas defense after a season jam-packed with injuries for John Terry leaving Gary Cahill the only reliable defense with Ivanovic having an unhealthy season and Luiz being unreliable in defensea Ogbonna plays for Serie A area, Torino. Torino are having a relatively weak season losing 3 games inside their last 6, which could mean Ogbonna could come relatively cheap, the only other problem is, current Premier League leaders, Manchester United have reportedly scouted Ogbonna on a number of different situations this seasona Chelsea could get a fantastic offer for a player of Ogbonnaas quality the only problem is, can they be able to discover it? El Shaarawy a' Arguably among the most readily useful young prodigies in basketball is having an amazing year for Milan and is showing why he was good enough to be Ibrahimovicas successor, El Shaarawy has netted 16 goals and provided 4 assists in 28 games for Milan which will be an amazing statistic for a 20 year old. Chelsea have experienced a lack of width in the squad this year with Hazard and Moses being really the only wingers in the Chelsea squad, one is having a good debut year and the other not so much, El Shaarawy may repair all these problems with his capability to cut in and score an objective and is very good at finishing. El Shaarawy is also in a position to play as a this and striker is a plus as Chelsea havenat had much luck with strikers after Demba Ba perhaps not living around his expectations and Torres, well, we all know about Torres. Milan won't try and promote El Shaarawy, but like they sold Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, will money be adequate to allow El Shaarawy join Chelsea? Like Loading...
