Southampton Vs QPR Preview: Premier League Team News ...

The QPR manager, Harry Redknapp, is expected to receive a hostile reception from the home crowd when his side visit St Mary's. Being in charge at Southampton when they were relegated from the top flight in 2005 could be forgiven, but leaving the club a few months later to return to Portsmouth was too much for many Saints supporters to accept. Redknapp has said he "will just get on with it" in the face of any abuse and he has more pressing problems to deal with – QPR are bottom of the table and without a win in six matches. A defeat on Saturday could make relegation unavoidable.

QPR manager Harry Redknapp celebrates his 66th birthday on the day of this match, while Southampton counterpart Mauricio Pochettino will be 41.

The last time the sides met in the top flight at Southampton was in the 1995-96 season when the hosts enjoyed a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Jason Dodd and Matt Le Tissier. QPR have not lost on any of their four subsequent visits toSouthampton, all in the Championship.

Southampton have dropped 27 points from winning positions in the league this season, more than any other team in the top flight.

Against Newcastle, Jos Hooiveld scored his third own goal of the season, equalling a Premier League record shared with Scott Dann (2011-12), Andreas Jakobsson (2004-05) and John Pantsil (2010-11).

Rickie Lambert is the top-scoring Englishman in the Premier League with 12 goals, and he has also contributed four assists.

Against Manchester United, QPR set a club record of failing to score in five consecutive Premier League home matches.

It is the longest streak in the top flight since Portsmouth didn't score in six home matches in a row in 2007 – when Harry Redknapp was in charge at Pompey.
