This weekend, Bolton Wanderers will have their first (of hopefully a few) promotion six-pointers. The Trotters sit five points and three places behind sixth-in-the-table Brighton and Hove Albion. The match has the potential to be a massive influence on any promotion hopes that the men in white may have as the season enters its final ten games.
Ahead of his team's first-ever trip to the Reebok Stadium (and Bolton's first time hosting the Seagulls in 20 years), Gus Poyet issued words of warning. On top of being aware of Bolton's current form, he has told the Albion side that they need to go for it at the weekend.
"Bolton have had a good run of games and I'm sure there will be a different atmosphere around their club now. They were in a worrying situation at one point and I'd imagine we'll be playing against a different team on Saturday. They have the players to be in the top six because the quality of their squad is unbelievable.
"They have experience, they are playing at home and they are winning so it will be one of the hardest games for us. Having said that, it's another great game for us to play."
Like Bolton, Brighton are very much in form right now, having also taken 14 points from their last six games. They played out a 0-0 draw with Bristol City midweek.
"We need to play better than Tuesday in terms of attacking but play the same in terms of defending. We were spot on defensively. They [Bristol] only had shots from distance and if we do that every game we will win. Having said that we did not have a shot on goal which is very poor.
"We need to take a few risks and that all depends on what happens on the day. I didn't think Tuesday was the night to take a massive gamble because there was nothing in the game. We need to do it on Saturday though and if we have to we will take risks."
"From our point of view we need to win one of the next two. Now we have the chance to win this one so let's go and really try to win it.
"From the last 11 games of last season we only made about 12 points, and we didn't lose many. We need to make more points this time and to do that we have got to win.
"Then of course we will try to win in Barnsley but whatever happens, we cannot afford to go three games without winning.
"There will be a big impact from Bolton because they are on a good run and to win we will have to be spot-on. We need fresh legs because it will be competitive but we always look forward to playing against the big teams, which Bolton are."
