South African tour on agenda for Newcastle United - ChronicleLive

Reports in Cape Town have suggested the Magpies have two games lined up against Premier League rivals Everton and Ajax Cape Town in July.

United managing director Derek Llambias indicated last month that America and Brazil were also possibilities for the club this summer.

But Ajax Cape Town spokesman George Comitis confirmed that the games are now subject to local councils in the area signing off the fixtures.

Last summer the Magpies pulled out of the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa at the last minute after sponsors let them down.

A hastily arranged tour to Germany and Austria wasn't confirmed until days before their first game in Chemnitz before matches against Monaco and Fenerbahce.
