Louisville police disperse crowd with tear gas

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) a Louisville police used tear gas and an vehicle early Tuesday to calm disturbances that erupted during a party of the Cardinals' NCAA championship win over Michigan. Parties were mostly peaceful subsequent Louisville's 82-76 victory that clinched the school's third name and first since 1986. Campus police, dealing with Louisville police and sheriff's deputies, claimed just 10 arrests and three injuries after students swarmed the area following Cardinals' win. But, things got out of hand around Cardinal Boulevard and Third Street as the revelry was winding down. Riot police were called in after an official was attacked. Students quickly left the area but several scuffles ensued and bottles were thrown, requiring police to use tear gas. The company was brought in and order was restored before 2:30 a.m.
