LMFAO Member Redfoo Will Attempt To Qualify for 2013 US Open

Rapper Redfoo will have to put the party rocking, shuffling and working out on hold as he gets set to attempt to qualify for one of tennis' most prestigious tournaments, the 2013 U.S. Open, according to an Associated Press report via ESPN.com on Saturday:

The LMFAO member, whose real name is Stefan Gordy, will play in the USTA Northern California Sectional qualifying tournament in California this summer. The tournament is scheduled to start on June 18.

Gordy, who is good friends with women's world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, is actually a tennis enthusiast and, according to the report, is coaching a 17-year-old female player named Ayaka Okuno. He will participate in mixed doubles with Okuno this summer.

Gordy's chances of qualifying for the year's final Grand Slam event certainly don't seem promising. At age 37, he's 12 years older than reigning U.S. Open champion Andy Murray and just about every player who will suit up in the men's draw in New York this summer.

On top of that, I'm not sure Gordy's conditioning and skill set can match up with players who dedicate themselves to the game and also share his dream of playing professionally.

He may have a shot in mixed doubles if his pupil can carry him. Otherwise, Gordy would be wise to stick to his day job.
