Honestly laughable: Fulham target Lampard but do not assume Chelsea tale to... - Mirror.co.uk

"He is England's most profitable midfielder in 30 or 40 years. He'll have a look on his face if he listens to us but I'd want to have him" sighs Jol Chris Brunskill Martin Jol would need Frank Lampard at Craven Cottage - but reckons he's staying at Chelsea. Lampard is out of contract in the summer and Jol, who Fulham part number the Blues in a London derby on Wednesday, needs clubs to be queuing up to signal the England star. The game at Craven Cottage is expected to see Lampard make his 600th appearance for the Blues, but his potential is still up in the air - to the extent that even his prepared summer wedding to TELEVISION speaker Christine Bleakley is on ice. The 34-year-old has gained every important honour to almst throughout his 12 years at Stamford Bridge - and that is why Jol reckons he will get offered a fresh deal. The Fulham employer said: "He could be the most productive midfield players in England within the last few 30 or 40 years. "Everyone want to own him. He is healthy and is a great character. "He will have a look on his experience if he listens to Fulham but I'd want to have him. As he will never play for Fulham nonetheless it is theoretical - I'm uncertain he will play for a top-10 group. "He is really a legend - a full time income legend over there. He won all of the prizes over there. Ultimately I have an atmosphere they will keep him." There might well be room for Lampard in Fulham's midfield, as Jol explains here: After losing famous brands Clint Dempsey, Mousa Dembele and Danny Murphy last year, there again seems set to be another large turnover of midfielders at Craven Cottage. Giorgos Karagounis, Mahamadou Diarra, Chris Baird and Simon Davies have all yet to extend their contracts past the end of the season. The on-loan quartet of Urby Emanuelson, Emmanuel Frimpong, Stanislav Manolev and Eyong Enoh also see their stays expire in the summer, although Fulham have an option to really make the latter duo's goes permanent. "If you go through the defence, I think we are fine," the Dutchman said. "If you look at the midfield, I think Steve Sidwell has become the only 1 left if you think of all players we had six or seven weeks before. We've to accomplish anything. "In midfield we can take action while there is only one or two left. Karagounis can also be on a one-year package so Sidwell is probably the only 1 who's on a long-term contract." And Jol demonstrably has faith in veteran players - the Cottagers' first XI has the oldest average age in the Premier League. Keeper Mark Schwarzer is 40, but has hinted at making in summer time, when his contract is up, if he's not still first choice. Jol is trying to signal a and has told Schwarzer he will have to compete for his position. Aussie rules... But also for simply how much longer? Schwarzer's Fulham future is in question Clive Mason The Dutchman added: "We are looking for a good goalkeeper, therefore if Mark decides to remain I will have two good goalkeepers. "Plus, David Stockdale, he is still there. I've to communicate with him. We're buying a goalkeeper since Stockdale is frustrated being the amount two. "We usually locate a goalkeeper. Can you choose a junk goalkeeper or even a great goalkeeper? You always locate a good goalkeeper, to ensure that is what we're doing. "But Mark Schwarzer is for us almost a hero. He saves activities for us, therefore I want him to keep, but we are looking for a goalkeeper." Fulham Schwarzer; Riether, Hangeland, Senderos, Richardson; Karagounis, Enoh; Manolev, Ruiz, Emanuelson; Berbatov. Chelsea Cech; Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Bertrand; Ramires, Lampard; Moses, Mata, Hazard; Torres.
