1,300 Bolton Wanderers fans made the long trek down south to see their Trotters take on bottom-of-the-table Bristol City in what was effectively a do-or-die situation for both teams. Bolton's fourth away win of the season meant that Wanderers would be in the playoff places for the first time since prior to kickoff on opening day (when they were there on alphabetical order alone).
It began very brightly for Bolton as a good bit of play between Chung-Yong Lee and Darren Pratley on Bolton's left flank saw Pratley get a cross into the box less than two minutes in. The ball wasn't dealt with by the Bristol City defenders and it was Liam Fontaine that would poke it into the back of his own net to gift Bolton the lead.
City would equalize just five minutes after the halftime break thanks to Albert Adomah's cross into the box on the right. Steve Davies ran through the center of the area, completely unmarked, before nodding home from close range. Bolton would get the winner with just over ten minutes of the match to play. David Ngog was brought down in the box and after the referee had initially waved the penalty appeals away, the linesman's persistence forced the official to point to the spot. Chris Eagles made way for Craig Davies to take it and the forward powered it high and center, into the back of the net.
The video quality is relatively poor but it's better than nothing and when a better video emerges, this post will be updated.
